The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by telling students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after winning the next general election,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
The party, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
However, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with education – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in recent years led to significant interruptions in schools and millions of days of lost learning for students.
At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I am serious. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I’ll do that.”
The college, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
